MAX BRAUTIGAM - CLASS OF 2016 A quick disclaimer – you see movies like The Imitation Game, Selma, and Interstellar all getting high grades from me because they are all movies worthy of high grades. I try not to watch movies that don’t look like they’re good. Next time I go to theaters and accidentally see a piece of crap, I’ll be sure to let you all know. Now back on topic.

JACK WARNOCK - CLASS OF 2018 THE INTERVIEW – B- In the highly controversial comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (played by James Franco), and his producer, Aaron Rapaport (played by Seth Rogen), travel to North Korea to interview Kim Jong Un (played by Randall Park). However, the CIA interrupts their plans by recruiting them to assassinate the leader. Chances are, if you found other Seth Rogen movies, like Neighbors and This Is The End, to be hilarious, you are going to enjoy The Interview. MAX BRAUTIGAM - CLASS OF 2016 & JOEY HAN - CLASS OF 2017 GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – B+ What do an anthropomorphic raccoon, a tree creature with limited vocabulary, and Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt have in common? They are all showcase characters in Marvel’s new smash hit, Guardians of the Galaxy, the highest-grossing movie of the summer. Bright, popping visuals, colorful characters (I’m not kidding, two of the protagonists are green), and a tongue in cheek sense of humor, have helped Guardians of the Galaxy succeed, raking in a domestic gross of over $325 million, as of October 20th. The cast, in addition to Pratt, features Zoë Saldana, Dave Bautista, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, and voice work from Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. Guardians of the Galaxy works thanks to all of these elements, but most of all because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. |
